On 4 June 2014, Pugwash Netherlands is organising a public lecture by Alexander Nikitin (Moscow) under the title “Towards Joint Western–Russian Crises Response and Conflict Resolution”. The lecture will be held at the VU University Amsterdam and is open to anyone interested (please sign up by sending an email to bureau@pugwash.nl). The public lecture will deal with Western and Russian approaches to crises response and conflict resolution and will explore the possibilities for a joint approach, a very topical issue. Professor Alexander Nikitin is Director of the Center for Euro-Atlantic Security at MGIMO University Moscow and Vice-Chair of Pugwash Russia.
Pugwash Netherlands is the Dutch chapter of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs (Nobel Peace Prize 1995), an organisation that brings together, from around the world, influential scholars and public figures concerned with reducing the danger of armed conflict and seeking cooperative solutions for global problems such as those related to poverty alleviation and protection of the environment.
