Our member Dr Henk L. Boter, passed away on May 15th. As a chemist with great interest in world affairs, he organized a long series of Pugwash workshops in Switzerland and the Netherlands, in preparation for the Convention on Chemical Weapons which now forbids these weapons. He advised the Dutch delegation to the negotiations in Geneva in 1997, where this convention was drafted and the seat of its executive body, the OPCW, was assigned to The Hague. We remember him as a competent and diligent expert, deeply committed to his tasks, with a friendly personality. He is sorely missed by us all.
